Define a Shared Outstation’s Switching Capabilities
Use the Switch Type combo box on the Shared tab to specify whether an outstation can switch between channels.
Choose from:
The outstation can switch independently to either channel (see Communications via Either Channel). If you select this option, use the Preferred Line combo box to specify which of the two channels you would prefer the outstation to use for communications with the server (see Define an Independently Switching Outstation’s Preferred Channel).
With Independent switching, other fields on the tab also become available for use. The fields allow you to specify whether ClearSCADA is to either:
or:
Additionally, if the outstation uses network-connected channels, you can specify how the driver handles inbound connections on those channels (see Specify the Network-Connected Channels on Which the Driver Accepts Inbound Connections).
The outstation is only connected to Line A, which is its only means of communication with the server (see Communications Fixed on Line A or Fixed on Line B).
The outstation is only connected to Line B, which is its only means of communication with the server (see Communications Fixed on Line A or Fixed on Line B).
The outstation is a Group Slave and another independent outstation has been designated as its Group Master. Each Group Slave uses the same channel as its Group Master. As such, whenever the Group Master switches channels, the Group Slave switches communications to the same channel as that Group Master (see Communications Determined by a Group Master).
