A Third Party OLEDB client can only connect to a ClearSCADA server if it has the ClearSCADA Data Components installed. The Data Access components allow OLEDB applications to access your ClearSCADA database. They also handle the communications between ClearSCADA and the OLEDB client.
To install the ClearSCADA Data Access components on a computer that runs Third Party ODBC application(s):
- Check to see if the client has the ClearSCADA Data Access components installed.
- Log on to the client PC.
- In Windows, select Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Data Sources (ODBC) to run the ODBC Data Source Administrator.
- Select the Drivers tab.
If the ClearSCADA Driver is listed, the ClearSCADA Data Access components are already installed on the client. Proceed to Configure an OLEDB Client - System Connection.
If the ClearSCADA Driver is not listed, you will need to install the ClearSCADA Data Access components from your ClearSCADA disk (see Making Changes to your ClearSCADA Installation in the ClearSCADA Installation Guide).
You can install the Data Access components as part of a Full or Typical ClearSCADA installation. Alternatively, you can use the Custom option to install the Data Access components on their own, or with a selection of other components.
