Configuration Changes and Structure Changes
The Configuration Transaction feature is designed to stop you from making changes when an update is pending. With items in Group Templates and Group Instances, these changes include alterations to the configuration of items and changes to the structure of the database (see Activities that are Restricted when Configuration or Structure Changes are Pending).
The operations that are referred to as Configuration Changes are:
- Saving changes on Forms
- Saving changes on documents such as Mimics, Logic programs, and Schedules
- Writing to a property from Logic or another program
- Enabling or disabling an aggregate from Logic or another program
- Changing an item’s Security settings
- Changing an item’s color palette
- Removing Property Overrides from a Group Template.
The operations that are referred to as Structure Changes are:
- Creating an item
- Deleting an item
- Renaming an item
- Moving an item:
- between Groups in the same Group Template
- into a Group Template
- out of a Group Template
- between two different Group Templates
- Converting an item
- Changing the configuration of a 'nested' Group Instance so that it is associated with a different Group Template (a 'nested' Group Instance is a Group Instance that is located within another Group Instance)
- Converting a 'nested' Group Instance into a Group Template (using the Convert menu option)
- Converting a 'nested' Group Instance into a Group.
