Copying a Database Item

You can make a duplicate of an item or group of items. This can be useful for reducing the amount of configuration required—you can make copies of items that are similar, and then alter the configuration of the features that are unique. Copying duplicates the configuration of an item or group of items, it does not copy across any data associated with the item(s) that are being copied. For more information, see the topics that are listed in the gray footer section at the bottom of this topic. Select the relevant entry to display the topic that you require.

If your system uses Areas of Interest (see Restrict Alarm and Event Access to Specific Areas of Interest), you can use the renaming methods to copy an Area of Interest. To do so, you would Display the Areas of Interest Bar, rather than the Database Bar.

To produce multiple similar groups of items, consider using a Group Template, and then creating Group Instances of that Template. Whenever you make configuration changes to any items within the Template, the same changes are replicated in each of the Instances of those items (see Group Templates and Group Instances).
