Run Mode

A 'file' type object is a database item for which you configure various properties using an Editor. ClearSCADA supports various 'file' type objects, including Mimics, Logic Programs, Reports,Trends, and X-Y Plots.

You display a 'file' type object in Run mode to access that object's operational features. Operator-level users access 'file' type objects in Run mode to perform day-to-day tasks, such as monitoring system activity. For example, you would display a Mimic in Run mode to view animated values updating in real-time, use hyperlinks on the Mimic to navigate to other displays, or use controls on the Mimic to interact with your system. Similarly, you would display a Trend or X-Y Plot in Run mode to view the data on that Trend or Plot, zoom in to view a particular data range, or navigate to different time intervals on the display.

Configuration and document editing features are unavailable in Run mode, even if your User Account has the Configure permission enabled.

On a ViewX client, security permissions and menu options determine whether you can display a 'file' type object in Run mode or Design mode.

On a WebX client, you can only display 'file' type objects in Run mode.

Although Logic programs are 'file' type objects, they do not have a 'Display' pick action to enable them to be viewed in Run mode. Instead, you use an Execute pick action if you want to trigger the Logic program manually. For more information, see Using Actions Associated with Logic Programs in the ClearSCADA Guide to Logic.
