Derived Points

A derived point obtains its value from another point, by performing a calculation on the other point’s value. Depending on the type of derived point, the calculation might be performed in the outstation or by ClearSCADA. The point from which the derived point obtains its value is known as its parent point.

When configuring a derived point in ClearSCADA, some of the derived point’s configuration is typically inherited from its parent point. In order for the derived point to inherit such configuration, you need to use the relevant field to specify the name of that derived point’s parent point. The inherited configuration is displayed the next time that the configuration is saved.
