Which Driver?

Some DNP3 devices support additional features that are unavailable on other DNP3 devices. To support these additional features, ClearSCADA uses a DNP3 extension driver. If your system uses a DNP3 extension driver, use the guide to that extension driver in conjunction with this guide. In each case, your system needs to run the DNP3 driver, along with the relevant extension driver.

The DNP3 extension drivers that ClearSCADA supports include:

• DNP3 SCADAPack E—Use this extension driver to enable ClearSCADA to communicate with SCADAPack E outstations, and 386 eNET outstations, using the DNP3 protocol. For more information, see the ClearSCADA Guide to the DNP3 SCADAPack E Driver.
• DNP3 WITS—Use this extension driver to enable ClearSCADA to communicate with WITS field devices. For more information, see the ClearSCADA Guide to the DNP3 WITS Driver.
• SCADAPack x70—Use this extension driver to enable ClearSCADA to communicate with SCADAPack x70 devices. For more information, see the ClearSCADA Guide to the SCADAPack x70 Driver.

To use the DNP3 protocol to communicate with devices other than those mentioned above, you use the DNP3 driver on its own.
