Disable Switching

Associated with: Shared or Switched outstation sets; Shared outstations that are ‘Independent’

Security permission required to access this pick action: Switch Line

On Switched or Shared sets, ClearSCADA automatically switches communications to the other of two direct channels should it detect that communications via the presently used channel has failed (see Direct - Dual Channel in the ClearSCADA Guide to Advanced Drivers).

If required, use the Disable Switching pick action to temporarily stop communications from switching to the channel that is not presently in use. Use the pick action, for instance, if maintenance needs to be carried out on the unused channel. Once any maintenance is complete, use the Enable Switching pick action to re-enable line switching.

Should ClearSCADA detect that communications via the presently used channel has failed while switching is disabled, communications will fall back to PSTN (if such communications are supported and enabled).

The Switching Disabled system color, and the Switching status attribute indicate when switching is inhibited on a set or outstation.
