Simple drivers:
- Enable ClearSCADA to communicate with PLCs and other devices using a permanent direct connection, such as a cable, network, or continuous radio signal (see Systems with Direct Communications).
- Enable ClearSCADA to poll (scan) those devices for current data (the present state or value of a point at the time that the ClearSCADA server requests such data).
- Typically use Scanners to poll those devices for data. Each scanner scans a block of points for data.
- Tend to support a channel/server, scanner, and point architecture (see Driver Components).
