ClearSCADA on Citrix and Remote Desktop Services
You can run ClearSCADA on remote desktop setups such as Citrix XenApp and Microsoft Remote Desktop Services. (Microsoft Remote Desktop Services was formerly known as Microsoft Terminal Services.) These products allow Citrix and Remote Desktop Services clients to provide the features of a ViewX client without having ViewX installed locally.
In the following sections, we provide an overview of the ClearSCADA-Citrix/Remote Desktop Services concept and also offer an insight into the pros and cons of this type of architecture:
- Understanding ClearSCADA on Citrix and Remote Desktop Services
- Considerations for Running ClearSCADA on Citrix and Remote Desktop Services.
If you decide that this type of architecture is suited to your requirements, you will need to contact a specialist Citrix or Remote Desktop Services agent for more information. The agent will:
- Inform you about the number of servers and clients you will need for your system
- Configure the connections between ClearSCADA and Citrix or Remote Desktop Services.
There are no settings in ClearSCADA that need to be changed specifically for use with Citrix or Remote Desktop Services. The only ClearSCADA specific requirement is that a ViewX or WebX client is installed/set up on the Citrix/Remote Desktop Services server(s). These clients need to be connected to the ClearSCADA server in the same way as a ‘normal’ ViewX or WebX client. However, your agent will need to be aware of the Requirements for Citrix XenApp or Microsoft Remote Desktop Services.
