Enable or Disable a Secondary Port
If a channel supports communication using either of two ports (Primary and Secondary), by default the secondary port is disabled when you first create the channel in the database.
If the secondary port is used by the channel, you can enable it by either choosing the relevant Connection Type (see Configure a Channel’s Connection Type in the ClearSCADA Guide to Drivers), or selecting the Enabled check box on the Secondary Port or Secondary Connection tab (the name of the actual tab varies, depending on the type of channel).
If the secondary port is not used by the channel on your system, ensure that the port configuration is disabled. The way that you do this varies, depending whether the channel can communicate using more than one type of communications connection. To disable a secondary port, you either:
- Set the Connection Type field on the Secondary Port or Secondary Connection tab to ‘None’. This field is available if the channel supports more than one type of communications connection.
or:
- Clear the Enabled check box on the Secondary Port or Secondary Connection tab. This check box is available if a channel can use only one type of communications connection.
