Why Does My Search String Return No Entries?
Both the main search facility and the Glossary search only return entries that contain the specified search term. As such, if the search term contains a misspelled word, the wrong variant of a word, or a search string that is too restrictive, few or no search results might be returned. If, for example, you enclose a search string in double quotation marks, but place the words in a slightly different order to that used in the help, or use the plural, rather than the singular form of a word, the search results might not contain the topics you are after. If you are unsure which form of a word is used in the help, try entering just the stem of the word in the main search facility, and then check the search results. For more information about stem and word variants, see Use Double Quotation Marks.
Remember that some driver-related features, properties, status attributes, or pick actions might be common to multiple drivers or database items. Information about such features, properties, or attributes might therefore be documented in a topic that appears in a core guide, or a general or parent driver guide, rather than a driver-specific guide. Keep this in mind when using the search filter to restrict your help searches to the topics that are in a particular guide - that guide might merely reference out to content that appears in another guide.
After using the search filter to restrict your help searches to those that relate to a particular collection of topics, remember to reset the filter to 'All Files' to enable help-wide searches.
Remember that the main search facility will only return the definition of a Glossary term in the list of search results if the search string matches the Glossary term exactly and is not enclosed within double quotation marks. Some Glossary terms are appended by a string in parentheses, to indicate either the context to which the term relates, or the expansion if Glossary term comprises an acronym. The main search facility will only return the definition of such Glossary terms if the search string contains the whole Glossary term, including the content that appears in parentheses. If the main search facility does not return the definition of a term that you believe exists in the Glossary, try searching for that term directly in the Glossary. The Glossary search supports partial word searches and automatically filters the list of Glossary terms as you enter your search term into the glossary search field (see Glossary). The Glossary search is restricted to text that appears in the list of Glossary terms, as opposed to text that appears in the definitions of Glossary terms. Do not enclose a Glossary search term in either single or double quotations marks (you can only use quotation marks with the main search facility).
