Preparation

Before you can successfully configure an outstation, you need to have configured:

You will need access to information about the configuration of the outstation hardware, including the type of communications connection and the telephone number of the site at which the outstation is located. This information is typically recorded by the engineer that sets up the outstation hardware.

You also need an understanding of the configuration in the Geo SCADA Expert database—you need to know which channels and outstation sets relate to the outstation that you are configuring. You need to be aware of the significance of the outstation’s alarms and events in relation to the entire system—this will determine the priority that you allocate to the outstation.

If you are configuring a PSTN outstation’s call properties, ensure that you are aware of the call requirements of the telephone service provider—there may be regulations regarding the period of time between calls to the same number.

If you do not have access to the required information, please contact a system administrator.
