Configure an OLEDB Client - System Connection

After installing the Data Access components, you need to create a connection between the Geo SCADA Expert server and the computer that is running the Third Party OLEDB application(s). The connection will allow the Third Party application(s) to access the Geo SCADA Expert database.

To configure an OLEDB client - System connection:

  1. In Windows, select the Start menu. Scroll down the alphabetical list of installed applications and expand the EcoStruxure Geo SCADA folder. Select the Configure Connections option.
  2. At the User Account Control prompt, select Yes to allow the Geo SCADA Expert Client applet to run.
  3. When the Geo SCADA Expert Client applet runs, select the Add button to display the Geo SCADA Expert Client Configuration window.
  4. Use the Geo SCADA Expert Client Configuration window to create a new connection. The configuration you need to define is the same as that for a ViewX - System connection, with these settings available:
  5. When you have defined the connection settings, select the OK button to apply them. The Client Configuration window is closed and the new connection is added to the list on the Geo SCADA Expert Client applet.
  6. Select the Licenses button to display the Client Licensing window. Use this window to associate the Third Party OLEDB client with a data access license (see Associate a Third-Party OLEDB Client with a Data Access License).
  7. Close the Geo SCADA Expert Client Applet.
  8. Run the Third-Party OLEDB application and configure it to access the Geo SCADA Expert database. The procedure for setting up access varies depending on the applications being used. Please refer to your Third Party application documentation for more details.
