Define Whether the ViewX Client Uses a Secure Connection
To help protect your system from unauthorized use, we recommend that each Geo SCADA Expert serveris configured to accept only secure connections from ViewX clients
With new installations, the Geo SCADA Expert server is configured to accept only secure connections from ViewX clients by default.
If the servers on your system accept both secure and insecure connections from ViewX clients, you can specify, on a per client basis, whether each ViewX client uses a secure connection to communicate with the server.
To specify whether a ViewX client uses a secure connection:
- Display the Client Configuration Window for the connection that you want to add or edit.
- Either:
- Select the Secure Connection check box (the recommended setting). The ViewX client will use a secure connection for communications with the Geo SCADA Expert server.
Or:
- Clear the Secure Connection check box. The ViewX client will use an insecure connection to communicate with the Geo SCADA Expert server. We do not recommend this option as the use of insecure connections could compromise the security of your system.
Be aware that if a server is configured to only accept secure connections from ViewX clients, you will be unable to connect to that server using a ViewX client on which the Secure Connection check box is clear.
WARNINGSECURITY RISK
Clearing the Secure Connection check box could compromise the security of your system. Unauthorized users could gain access to your systemFailure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury, or equipment damage.
- Either select the OK button to close the Client Configuration window, or proceed to configure other settings in the window as required (see Create a New ViewX Client - System Connection).
