Add a Group Template

You need to add a Group Template to contain the ‘model’ configuration. This configuration data will be referred to by ‘live’ database items in Group Instances.

To add a Group Template:

  1. Display the Database Bar (see Display an Explorer Bar).
  2. In the Database Bar, right-click on the group or system to which you want to add the Group Template.
A context sensitive menu is displayed.
  3. Select the Create New option.
    A further menu is displayed.
  4. Select the Group Template option.
A Group Template is added to the selected group or system, and appears as a Group Template folder in the Database Bar tree structure. The Template is selected automatically, ready for you to define its name.

  5. Enter a suitable name for the item (taking into account the Geo SCADA Expert Naming Restrictions). (The name can be unique to the Template—you name each of the Instances that reference the Template when you create those Instances.)
  6. Press the Enter key or select another part of the ViewX display to confirm the name entry.

Once you have added a Group Template, you can use the Group Template Form to configure the Template (see Configure a Group Template).

You can then add database items to the Group Template (see Add Items to a Group Template), and use the relevant Forms to configure those items.
