Types of Parameter

Geo SCADA Expert supports these types of Parameter:

Type of Parameter Description

Address

Use this type of Parameter to store a postal address of up to four lines, including the postal code.

Double

Use this type of Parameter to store a double-precision floating point number. The number is not expected to change once it has been configured in the database.

(Geo SCADA Expert also supports Double and Constant Double Variables. The type of double that you add to Geo SCADA Expert depends on the double’s intended functionality. (You might use a Constant Double Variable, rather than a Double Parameter, for instance, if you want to exclude such data from being exported to another Geo SCADA Expert system.) For more information, see Parameters versus Points and Variables.)

Grid Reference

Use this type of Parameter to store an Ordnance Survey (OS) map grid reference.

Link

Use this type of Parameter to store a hyperlink to an item in the Geo SCADA Expert database.

Consider using Link Parameters, for example, if the Mimics on your system are produced using a series of Group Templates, and you want users to be able to navigate between those Mimics (see Use Link Parameters to Enable the Instances of a Mimic to Reference Different Locations).

Parameter Table

Use this type of Parameter to store up to four text strings. The string content is expected not to change once it has been configured in the database.

String

Use this type of Parameter to store a single text string. The text string is expected not to change once it has been configured in the database.

(Geo SCADA Expert also supports String Points and String Variables. The type of string that you add to Geo SCADA Expert depends on the string’s intended functionality. For more information, see Parameters versus Points and Variables.)

In general, use Parameters as opposed to Variables if the data values that you want Geo SCADA Expert to store are expected to remain static. For more information, see Parameters versus Points and Variables.
