Which Driver?
Geo SCADA Expert can communicate with SCADAPack devices using one of several drivers. The driver that you need to use depends on the type of SCADAPack device(s) with which Geo SCADA Expert is to communicate.
If Geo SCADA Expert is to communicate with SCADAPack x70 devices using the DNP3 protocol, your system needs to run the DNP3 driver, along with the SCADAPack x70 extension driver. Refer to the rest of this driver guide and the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to the DNP3 Driver for information on configuring your database accordingly.
In order for Geo SCADA Expert to communicate with other series of SCADAPack devices, your system needs to run other drivers:
- If Geo SCADA Expert is to communicate with SCADAPack 50 devices, your system needs to run the SCADAPack 50 driver. For more information, see the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to the SCADAPack 50 Driver.
- If Geo SCADA Expert is to communicate with SCADAPack E outstations, or 386 eNET outstations, using the DNP3 protocol, your system needs to run the DNP3 driver along with the DNP3 SCADAPack E extension driver. For more information, see the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to the DNP3 SCADAPack E Driver, and the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to the DNP3 Driver.
- If Geo SCADA Expert is to communicate with SCADAPack E outstations, or 386 eNET outstations, using the Modbus protocol, use the 'standard' and 'Generic' Modbus database items provided with Geo SCADA Expert's Advanced Modbus driver, or use the Simple Modbus driver. For more information, see the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to the Advanced Modbus Driver, or the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to the Simple Modbus Driver.
- If Geo SCADA Expert is to communicate with other series of SCADAPack devices, the driver that you need to use varies depending on the required communications protocol:
- To communicate with other series of SCADAPack devices using the DNP3 protocol, use the 'standard' and 'Generic' DNP3 database items provided with Geo SCADA Expert's DNP3 driver. For more information, see the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to the DNP3 Driver.
- To communicate with other series of SCADAPack devices using the Modbus protocol, your system needs to run the SCADAPack Modbus driver. For more information, see the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to the SCADAPack Modbus Driver.
