Access the DBStartup Log File

If the startup process cannot complete successfully, you will need to access the DBStartup log file(s). The DBStartup log file(s) log each stage of the start up process and can be used by Schneider Electric to diagnose startup problems.

To access the DBStartup log file:

  1. Right-click on the server icon in the Windows taskbar.
A context sensitive menu is displayed.
  2. Select the View_DBStartup_<Number>.log option to display the log file in a text editor program such as Notepad. The <Number> part of the option is the number for the log file. If there is too much data to fit into a single log file, Geo SCADA Expert will create as many DBStartup log files as are needed. You may need to access several of these log files when reporting startup problems to Schneider Electric.

The log file contains information about each phase of the startup process with an indication as to whether each phase was successful or unsuccessful. If you experience startup problems, Schneider Electric will ask for specific information about the phases. The information you need to provide is included in the log file.

Many common startup problems relate to the database containing items for drivers that have not been installed, and the data.dat file being missing or in the incorrect location.

If you experience difficulties with the shutdown process, you should report the problem to Schneider Electric. When diagnosing the problem, Schneider Electric will ask for the shutdown data in the log file—this information is located at the bottom of the main log file for your system (also accessed via the server icon in the Windows taskbar) and is not included in the DBStartup log file.
