Making Changes to your Geo SCADA Expert Installation

You can make changes to your Geo SCADA Expert installation by using the Geo SCADA Expert installer. For example, you can install additional drivers (in accordance with your license agreement) or uninstall Geo SCADA Expert components that you do not require.

COMPLETE LOSS OF CONFIGURATION

When setting up a main-standby system, make sure that you restart the servers in the correct order if objects are already configured in your database. Make sure that the server with objects already configured is started first and is running as main, then start the partner servers and allow them to synchronize with the main server.

Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury, or equipment damage. Failure to start the servers in the correct order can result in the complete loss of configuration from the system, requiring recovery from a backup.

To make changes to your Geo SCADA Expert installation:

1. Shut down the Geo SCADA Expert server. (The installation process requires the server to be shut down.) For information on shutting down a server, see 'Stop the Geo SCADA Expert Server' in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Server Administration.

2. Run the Geo SCADA Expert installer. To do this, you can either:
   • Insert the Geo SCADA Expert DVD and select the Install Geo SCADA Expert option. The Geo SCADA Expert Installation wizard runs.

   Or:

   1. Use the Uninstall or Change a Program feature in Windows Control Panel. To access this feature in Windows 7, select Start>Control Panel>Progams and Features. For information on the change / uninstall feature in other versions of Windows, please refer to your Windows documentation.
   2. Select Geo SCADA Expert in the list. You will see that the menu options change and now include Change. Alternatively, you can right-click on Geo SCADA Expert in the list to display a context-sensitive menu that contains a Change option.
   3. Select Change to run the Geo SCADA Expert installation wizard.
3. Select Next.
4. Select Modify.

   

5. Use the Custom Setup ‘page’ to specify which components are to be installed or uninstalled. For more information on using the Custom Setup ‘page’ see Custom Setup.
6. Select Next.
7. Select Install. Geo SCADA Expert adds or removes the relevant components, depending on the selections you made on the Custom Setup ‘page’.
