Upgrade Geo SCADA Expert Servers in a Multi-Server Architecture

When you have the appropriate update files for Geo SCADA Expert and any extensions, DDK drivers, and Third Party applications, you can upgrade your Geo SCADA Expert system. For more information on obtaining these update files, see Preparing to Upgrade Geo SCADA Expert.

In this section, we explain how to upgrade your Geo SCADA Expert servers using separate installers for:

• Geo SCADA Expert
• Extensions
• DDK drivers
• Third Party applications (that target Geo SCADA Expert).

Some publishers may repackage Geo SCADA Expert updates so that you can install all (or some) of the components (above) from a single installer.

Irrespective of the type of installer(s) you have, you will need to install updates for Geo SCADA Expert, extensions (if used), DDK drivers (if used) and Third Party applications (if used) on the Standby servers first. You will then need to install the same components on the Main server.

COMPLETE LOSS OF CONFIGURATION

When setting up a main-standby system, make sure that you restart the servers in the correct order if objects are already configured in your database. Make sure that the server with objects already configured is started first and is running as main, then start the partner servers and allow them to synchronize with the main server.

Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury, or equipment damage. Failure to start the servers in the correct order can result in the complete loss of configuration from the system, requiring recovery from a backup.
