Object Menu

The Geo SCADA Expert Object menu is a context sensitive menu that allows you to view the status of, and perform actions on a database item, such as a point or outstation. The options that are available from the menu vary depending, for example, on:

When you display the Geo SCADA Expert Object menu for an individual item, the options on the menu apply to only that particular item. For example, if you select the Acknowledge Alarms option on the Object menu for a point, this will trigger Geo SCADA Expert to acknowledge any active alarm(s) on that particular point (see Perform an Action on an Alarm).

When you display the Geo SCADA Expert Object menu for a Group or Group Instance, the options on the menu apply to the group, any subgroups within that group, and the items in that group and subgroups. For example, if you select the Acknowledge Alarms option from a group Object menu, this will trigger Geo SCADA Expert to acknowledge any active alarms on the items in that group and any subgroups. So if the group contains three pumps that each have active alarms, selecting Acknowledge Alarms from the group Object menu will trigger Geo SCADA Expert to acknowledge alarms on those three pumps.

The rest of this section explains:

The options that are available from an Object menu are also referred to as ‘pick actions’ throughout the Geo SCADA Expert documentation.

Pick actions can be triggered manually or automatically. Your system might be configured to trigger specific pick actions automatically, for example on a scheduled basis or in response to alarms being raised. For further information, see Using Schedules to Automate Regular Functions, and see the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Alarm Redirection.
