Install the Data Access Components on a Third Party OLEDB Client

A Third Party OLEDB client can only connect to a Geo SCADA Expert server’s if it has the Geo SCADA Expert Data Components installed. The Data Access components allow OLEDB applications to access your Geo SCADA Expert database. They also handle the communications between Geo SCADA Expert and the OLEDB client.

To install the Geo SCADA Expert Data Access components on a computer that runs Third Party ODBC application(s):

• Check to see if the client has the Geo SCADA Expert Data Access components installed.
  1. Log on to the client PC.
  2. In Windows, select Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Data Sources (ODBC) to run the ODBC Data Source Administrator.
  3. Select the Drivers tab.

     If the Geo SCADA Expert Driver is listed, the Geo SCADA Expert Data Access components are already installed on the client. Proceed to Configure an OLEDB Client - System Connection.

     If the Geo SCADA Expert Driver is not listed, you will need to install the Geo SCADA Expert Data Access components from your Geo SCADA Expert disk (see Making Changes to your Geo SCADA Expert Installation in the Geo SCADA Expert Installation Guide).

     You can install the Data Access components as part of a Full or Typical Geo SCADA Expert installation. Alternatively, you can use the Custom option to install the Data Access components on their own, or with a selection of other components.
