Add a Variable

To add a Variable to the Geo SCADA Expert database:

1. Display the Database Bar (see Display an Explorer Bar).
2. In the Database Bar, right-click on the System or Group for which you want to add a Variable.
   A context sensitive menu is displayed.
3. Select the Create New option.
   A further menu is displayed.
4. Select the Variable option.
   A further menu is displayed.
5. Select the type of Variable that you require (see Types of Variable).
6. A Variable of the required type is added to the root of the System or to the selected Group (depending on your selection in Step 2), ready for you to enter its name.
7. Enter a suitable name for the item (taking into account the Geo SCADA Expert Naming Restrictions).
8. Press the Enter key or select another part of the ViewX interface to confirm the entry.

When you have added a Variable, you can then:

• Configure the Basic Properties of a Variable
• Set the Value of a Variable.
