When you export one or more database items the configuration of those items is included in the export. In addition you can also export the security settings associated with each item so that they can be imported. There are two aspects of the security settings that you must consider to export and import security settings:
- The permissions associated with an item or group need to be configure and not inherited.
- The user importing items into the database must have the permission to manage security settings.
Exporting security settings
- If the settings of the items you are exporting are not inherited, then the settings are included within the export file.
- If the security settings of the items you are exporting are set to be inherited then the settings are not exported. When you import these items they will inherit the security settings of the system or group that you are importing them into.

Importing security settings
- When you import one or more database items with security settings, they are imported providing your user account has permission to access and manage the security of the group into which you are importing database items, see Security Permission.

- If your user account does not have permission to manage the security settings for a group, the database items are still imported into the selected group, however the security settings are not imported. The imported items inherit the security settings of the group that they are added into.
