Set up the List Preferences
Geo SCADA Expert is supplied with a set of defaults, which determine the way in which the system functions, and the way in which data is processed and displayed. This includes various settings that affect Lists. If required, many of these settings can be changed from the defaults.
This section is for system administrators and high-level engineers who need to change any of the List defaults on either a system-wide, client-specific, or user-specific basis.
Where the options are to differ from the defaults, a system administrator should specify:
- System-wide preferences when Geo SCADA Expert is first installed (including any system-wide settings for the Guest User)
- Client-specific preferences on existing clients (workstations) when Geo SCADA Expert is first installed, and on new clients as they are added to the system (including any client-specific settings for the Guest User)
- User-specific preferences for each individual User Account at the time that the account is added to the system.
In addition to the above, a system administrator also needs to allocate the required Security Permissions to each User Account, User Group, and item in the database. This includes the permissions that, for example, determine whether alarms can be acknowledged, removed, and/or disabled, and whether certain actions can be performed on an item in the database. For further information, see Allocating Security Permissions in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Security.
System administrators need only change any of the List settings if they are required to differ from the default settings that are supplied with the Geo SCADA Expert system. The following sections in this guide list the options you might want to consider should you need to:
- Set up Events List Preferences
- Set up Queries List Preferences
- Set up Historic List Preferences
- Specify the Preferred List Options on a ViewX Client.
In addition to the above, be aware that you can optionally configure Custom Lists. Like a standard Queries List, a Custom List uses an SQL query to determine the information that is included in the List. Custom Lists are useful if you want to display information that is not available in any of the standard Queries Lists, or if you regularly want to display a List that is filtered and/or sorted differently.
