TAP - Telocator Alphanumeric input Protocol

TAP (Telocator Alphanumeric input Protocol) is a long-established protocol that is used to send one-way alphanumeric messages to pagers and mobile telephones.

The TAP paging protocol requires a modem to communicate with the service provider. Depending on the equipment used, the TAP protocol can enable text messages to be sent to pagers or mobile telephones.

With TAP, Geo SCADA Expert sends messages to a pager or mobile phone by using the Pager Driver to communicate with the Service Provider via a modem. This message is then sent by the network service provider which then sends the message to the receiving device over a communications network.
