Monitor Performance Data on Remote Nodes
You can use the Performance Monitor driver to gather performance statistics locally, from the server on which the Geo SCADA Expert database resides, or from remote nodes.
This section provides further information about using the Performance Monitor driver to gather data from remote nodes (other computers or workstations that are connected to the Geo SCADA Expert network).
For the driver to gather data from remote nodes, you need to use the Performance Monitor section of the Geo SCADA Expert Server Configuration Tool to specify:
- the network Domain on which the remote nodes are located
- the Username and Password of a suitable user account on that network domain. The user account has to provide suitable access to the remote nodes and properties that the Performance Monitor driver is to monitor.
For further information, see Configuring Performance Monitor Server Settings.
Due to the way Windows® works, the ‘System’ account, which is used by many services such as Geo SCADA Expert, does not have permission to access the network. Therefore either a new domain user account needs to be created, or a suitable existing account be modified and used to provide the necessary access.
On the Geo SCADA Expert Server(s), configure the security properties so that they allow the domain user account to ‘Log in as a Service’.
On each of the client (target) nodes on which Geo SCADA Expert is to monitor statistics:
- configure the security properties so that the domain user account has appropriate access rights
- configure any further settings that are required if the nodes are running a version of Windows that has tightened security (see Accessing Performance Data).
