Control and Lock

This pick action is only available when used in conjunction with outstations that use the LACBUS-RTU protocol.
Use this pick action in same way as the standard Control pick action, to control the device that is represented by an output point. An output point in a Sofrel outstation can be locked to prevent it from being controlled by the outstation's process control programs. The point can only be controlled by master stations (such as Geo SCADA Expert) or from the outstation's web interface.
The Control and Lock pick action is available on a point providing that:
- Your User Account is allocated the Control security permission for that point.
- The Disable Controls has not been used to prevent users from issuing controls on that point.
Display the object menu and select the Control and Lock pick action to display the Control window.
Specify the required value in the Value or Action field, depending on the type of point. You may be offered a combo list of point values, or need to specify a value within a particular range. The range or values from which you can choose are determined by the point’s configuration.
When you select OK the driver connects to the outstation and then performs the control and locks the point.
When using this pick action with the Automation Interface, you need to specify the method name ControlLock.
System Color Setting for Locked Points
When a point is locked the background color setting of the point change to indicate that the point is locked. It uses the Outstation Override color when locked (see System Colors).
