The Vendor Name attribute shows the name of the organization that manufactures the device type to which the device profile relates. The Vendor Name is a maximum of 8 characters in length and is usually in upper case.

You can find the Vendor Name in the Device Identification section of the device profile ((see Display a WITS Device Profile)). The name is also registered with the WITS Protocol Standards Association (for more information, see http://www.witsprotocol.org).
A Field Device has a set of DNP3 device attributes that Geo SCADA Expert reads whenever it establishes communications with the device. The Manufacturers Name String (ID:252) attribute should match the Vendor Name attribute in the device profile. If the names do not match, it might mean that you are using the wrong device profile.
