Configuring Advanced EWS Devices
On a Geo SCADA Expert system, you should configure the Geo SCADA Expert database so that entries in the database reference the devices and plant that you are trying to monitor on your system. This section summarizes the database items that you need to configure in order to read and write to data on other servers, using the EcoStruxure Web Services protocol.
To communicate with other servers using the EcoStruxure Web Services protocol, the Advanced EcoStruxure Web Services Driver has to be installed and running on the Geo SCADA Expert servers on your system. The driver is represented by the Schneider Electric EcoStruxure Web Services Client - Advanced component in the Geo SCADA Expert Installation Wizard’s Setup window. The component is located within the Server branch of the tree that is displayed in the window (see Install a Driver in Geo SCADA Expert).
When you configure Advanced EWS items in the Geo SCADA Expert database, many of the settings for those items need to correspond to the settings on the relevant EWS servers on your system. You need to have access to, or a list of, these settings before you can configure the EWS database items successfully.
For example, you need to know the read mechanism that is supported by the Advanced EWS servers on your system. You should also be aware of which optional features are required for each Advanced EWS item. These features include:
- Alarm views
- Alarm redirections
- Historic data storage
- User methods.
You can use core Geo SCADA Expert features with Advanced EWS database items, including Lists, Actions, and Mimics. See the Core Documentation for details.
For each EcoStruxure Web Services device, you need to configure:
- Advanced EcoStruxure Web Services Server(s) to specify the EWS servers on which data is to be scanned, along with any access and security settings required to communicate with those servers.

CONFIGURATION MISMATCH
Ensure that the server configuration in the Geo SCADA Expert database matches the configuration that exists at the corresponding EWS server.Failure to follow these instructions can result in inoperable equipment, unexpected equipment operation, or inaccurate data values.Advanced EWS servers do not support downloading of configuration properties from Geo SCADA Expert. For this reason, you should check that the server configuration in the Geo SCADA Expert database matches the configuration that exists at the corresponding Advanced EWS server.
You need to configure one Advanced EWS Server item in the database for each EWS server with which you want to communicate using the EcoStruxure Web Services protocol, (see Configure the Advanced EWS Server).
- Advanced EcoStruxure Web Services Group(s) to specify which EWS servers are to be scanned and the rates at which the data is to be retrieved.
You need to configure a minimum of one Advanced EWS Group per Advanced EWS Server. You can attach multiple Advanced EWS Groups to the same EWS server. For instance, you might configure different Advanced EWS Groups to have different scan rates or offsets, in order to retrieve some data at different intervals or times to other data.

- Advanced EcoStruxure Web Services Point(s) of the appropriate type to represent the measuring instruments and control devices on the EWS servers that are communicating using the EcoStruxure Web Services protocol.

- Advanced EcoStruxure Web Services Forecast(s) to enable you to retrieve historical data that can be used to model possible outcomes based on that data.

To minimize the time that it takes to configure the required EWS items, you may want to configure them in the order listed above, as the group configuration requires that you specify a server, and point configuration requires that you specify a group, and so on.
