Audible Alarms
Audible alarms are only available on ViewX clients on which the Alarm Banner is displayed.
On some ViewX clients, an administrator might have configured the alarm bell so that it remains silent. On such clients, ensure that you are aware of the means by which you will be notified when an alarm is raised.
If the Alarm Bell is enabled, your ViewX client repeats an audible sound whenever a new alarm is raised. The sound ceases whenever you select the Alarm Bell Button to acknowledge that you are aware of the new alarm.
The audible alarm bell is designed to distract you from any other tasks so that the alarm becomes the focus of your attention. In some circumstances, the alarm bell sound can be an inappropriate distraction—for example, if the new alarms have Low priority and their immediate investigation is less urgent than the task you are performing. For this reason, your User Account may be configured to allow you to disable the audible alarm bell.
To disable the audible alarm:
- Right-click on the Alarm Bell Button.
A context-sensitive menu is displayed. - Select the Disable Bell option.
The audible alarm bell is de-activated—there is no sound when an alarm is raised.
To restore the alarm bell sound, repeat this procedure but select the Enable Bell option (which replaces the Disable Bell option).
The audible bell does not sound for alarms that are omitted from alarm displays due to an item’s alarm feature being disabled or suppressed. For more information, see Disable Alarms, and see Alarm Suppression.
The audible alarm is always disabled on a Virtual ViewX client.
