Fleeting Alarm
A fleeting alarm is an alarm that only exists for the instant that a condition occurs.
Geo SCADA Expert supports two types of fleeting alarm:
- A fleeting alarm that typically indicates an abnormal occurrence that is not associated with a specific state. As such, the database item that is in alarm cannot return to a particular state to indicate that the abnormal occurrence no longer exists (for example, a protocol error on an outstation).
- A fleeting alarm that Geo SCADA Expert can be configured to raise when an analog or counter-type point’s value returns to within its normal operating limits. This is also known as a 'Return to Normal alarm'. This type of fleeting alarm does not indicate an abnormal condition; instead it indicates the transition of the point back to its normal state. This feature is provided in case the notification of such a transition is required. For more information, see Return to Normal Alarm.
Either type of fleeting alarm clears when a further state change occurs, or when you acknowledge the alarm.
