Types of Abstract Item

The following table lists the types of Abstract Item that you can add to Group Templates, along with the type of item that you can convert them into within each Group Instance.

Refer to the driver-specific documentation for the types of outstation and point that are supported by the drivers on your system, before adding Abstract items to any Group Templates that you are configuring, to ensure that you select the most appropriate types. In addition to the items listed below, some drivers also support driver-specific Abstract items. For information on any Abstract items not listed below, see the relevant driver guide.

Advanced Analog Point

Any point with analog-type processing on any advanced driver
Advanced Counter Point

Any counter point on any advanced driver
Advanced Digital Point

Any point with digital-type processing on any advanced driver
Advanced Point

Any point type on any advanced driver
Advanced Point (Current Data)

Any point type on any advanced driver for which the server can retrieve only current data
Advanced Point
(Current and Logged Data)

Any point type on any advanced driver for which the server can retrieve both current and logged data
Advanced Point (Logged Data)

Any point type on any advanced driver for which the server can retrieve only logged data (time stamped data stored in the outstation)
Advanced Pulse Action

A pulse action on any advanced driver
Advanced String Point

A string point on any advanced driver
Outstation

Any type of direct or PSTN outstation
PSTN Outstation

Any type of PSTN-only outstation
Point

Any type of point, including internal points
Point Source

Scanner, ODBC Query, or Random Generator, and so on.
Simple Analog Point

Any internal or simple driver point with analog-type processing
Simple Counter Point

Any internal or simple driver counter point
Simple Digital Point

Any internal or simple driver point with digital-type processing
Simple Point

Any internal or simple driver point
Simple String Point

Any internal or simple driver string point
Simple Time Point

Any internal or simple driver time point
