Control Objects

Control Objects in IEC 61850 devices are Data Objects with a CO functional constraint that can consist of structures of Data Attributes with different Functional Constraints, including but not limited to; CO, CF, ST, and OR.

Data Attributes with a CO functional constraint are Control Service Parameters that can include ctlVal, orCat, orIdent, Test, and Check. Writing to Data Attributes with a CO Functional Constraint allows you to perform control operations on the Data Object.

Control Objects can be configured by setting the values of the corresponding Configuration points with Functional Constraint CF. The configuration points include can; ctlModel, sboClass, sboTimeout, and operTimeout.

You can monitor the current status of a Control Object by looking at the corresponding Status Information and Operate Received points with Functional Constraints ST and OR respectively. The status and operate received points can include; stVal, stSeld, opOk, and opRcvd.

Geo SCADA Expert represents these structures with Analog Control and Digital Control points. Some Control Service Parameters are set automatically by the driver and some can be set in the control point’s properties form.
