Specify Whether Simple Events are Displayed in the Status Bar
‘Tracking’ events—events that track activities that affect the system—are displayed in the status bar as they occur, in addition to being logged in the Event Journal. ‘Tracking’ events include, for example, events that are generated by user interaction with the system, such as changing an item’s configuration, or hand controlling a point. External interactions with the system are also categorized as ‘tracking’ events, as are redirection activities.
‘Condition’ events—events that are associated with alarms—are not displayed in the status bar.
By default, ‘simple’ events—events that do not fall into the ‘tracking’ or ‘condition’ event categories (such as point state change events) are excluded from the status bar. This is to reduce loading on the server (the server only sends such events to a client should an Events List in which such events are included be displayed on that client).
Although we do not recommend it, you can select the Include Simple Events in Status Bar check box on the Alarms and Events tab of the Options window, to include such events in the status bar.
Be aware that by selecting the Include Simple Events in Status Bar check box, the loading on the server will increase, as each event that is generated (other than a ‘condition’ event) will get sent to the client, in order to appear in the status bar’s message area.
On systems on which a large number of events are generated, this could result in substantial loading on the server.
ATTENTION: On systems that have a large number of ViewX clients, selecting this check box on each client may result in the system being temporarily unresponsive should many thousands of events be generated.
