Accessing Performance Data
To access and monitor performance data:
- On each of the target nodes (workstations) on which Geo SCADA Expert is to monitor performance data, either create a suitable Windows user account, or modify an existing suitable account so that it provides the necessary access.
To access performance data on remote node(s), the driver needs to use a suitable Domain user account. (A remote node is another computer or workstation that is connected to the same network as the local Geo SCADA Expert server.)
To access performance data on the local machine (the machine on which you are configuring the server settings), the driver can use a suitable local Windows user account (one that has been configured directly on that PC) or a Domain user account.
In each case, the user account has to be a member of the relevant user group (such as the ‘Performance Monitor Users’ group).
- If Geo SCADA Expert is to monitor data on remote nodes, set the ‘Remote Registry’ service to start up automatically on those remote nodes.
- On the Geo SCADA Expert Server(s):
- Configure the security properties to allow the Windows user account to ‘Log in as a Service’
- Use the Performance Monitor section of the Geo SCADA Expert Server Configuration Tool to specify the user account details (see Configuring Performance Monitor Server Settings)
- Create suitable Performance Monitor Scanner(s) and analog points to monitor the required data (see Configure Performance Monitor Devices in Geo SCADA Expert).
For further information on local and domain user accounts, Windows security settings, and the ‘Remote Registry’ service, refer to the documentation supplied with your operating system.
