Create a Direct Outstation
After you create a DNP3 Direct Outstation Set for the SCADAPack 575 device, you add a SCADAPack x70 DNP3 Direct Outstation to the database. This type of database item is available from the DNP3 sub-branch within the SCADAPack x70 branch of the Create New menu. The sub-branch corresponds to the communications protocol that Geo SCADA Expert is to use to communicate with the SCADAPack 575.
When you create the outstation, you can leave most of the configuration fields at their default values. For this tutorial, the only fields that you have to change on the outstation's configuration Form are as follows:
On the Network tab:
- Network—Set this to Single Network. The two fields mentioned below become available on the tab when you specify this setting.
- Host Address—Enter the IP Address of the SCADAPack 575 device. This has to be the same IP address that you have entered earlier in this tutorial on the IP Configuration tab of the SCADAPack 575 Device Configuration item.
- Port—Set this to 20000.
On the SCADAPack x70 tab:
- SCADAPack x70 Device—Specify the SCADAPack 57x Device that you created earlier in this tutorial.
On the DNP3 tab:
- Address—Set this to the same address that you have entered for the DNP3 Outstation Address in the Controlling Station 1 column when you created the SCADAPack 575 Device Configuration item earlier in the tutorial.
- Class 1—(This check box is located within the Enable Unsolicited Messages section of the tab.) Ensure that this check box is selected so that it displays a check mark.
As we will be using unsolicited messages to transmit event data for this tutorial, we can leave the Class Polling and Event Scanning sections of properties at their defaults. (If we were not using unsolicited functionality, we would enable Class 1 polling, and set the Analog Input Events Scan Group and Analog Output Events Scan Group to Group 1.)
On the Outstation tab:
- In Service—Select this check box so that it displays a check mark.
- Outstation Set—Specify the DNP3 Direct Outstation Set that you created earlier in this tutorial.
Once you have configured the outstation, you can proceed to Create an Analog Input Point.
