SCADAPack x70

Use RemoteConnect to Create the Initial Configuration for the SCADAPack 575 Device

You use RemoteConnect to create and export initial configuration before writing the configuration to the SCADAPack 575 device. To create configuration for the SCADAPack 575 device, do the following:

This tutorial describes using RemoteConnect version R2.6.1. Download the latest version of RemoteConnect from the Schneider Electric Exchange Shop:

Create a Project in RemoteConnect

  1. Start the RemoteConnect application.
  2. Select Create Project.
The Project Settings window is displayed.
  3. In the SCADAPack settings, set the SCADAPack Device Type to SCADAPack 575.
  4. In the DNP3 settings, select the DNP3 Outstation check box.
  5. Set the Number of DNP3 Controlling Stations to 1 and then select the Next button.
The PC Communication Settings window is displayed.
  6. Set the PC Communication Type to DNP3 USB and then select the Next button.
The setup of the SCADAPack project is complete.
  7. Select the Finish button.
The project is created and the SCADAPack configuration page is displayed.

Set Up the Initial Configuration

On the Configuration tab in RemoteConnect:

  1. Navigate to IP Communication > Ethernet Ports > Ethernet 1 > Basic Configuration > General Setup.
  2. Configure the IP Address and Subnet Mask.

Ensure that these settings are appropriate for the network that you are using for the SCADAPack x70 device and the Geo SCADA Expert server (consult your network administrator if required).

  3. Navigate to DNP3 > Outstation > Connection to Controlling Station 1 > Basic Configuration > Connection Setup.
  4. Configure the DNP3 Addresses and set the Communication Port to Ethernet 1.

Ensure that the DNP3 Addresses are appropriate for the Geo SCADA Expert database, that is, they do not clash with any existing DNP3 outstation sets/outstations in the Geo SCADA Expert database. If the Geo SCADA Expert database does not contain any DNP3 outstations, then you can use the default addresses of 0 (outstation) and 30000 (controlling station).

  5. Select the Add DNP3 Route button and enter the IP address of the Geo SCADA Expert server in the Connect Number field for Controlling Station 1 and then select OK.
  6. Select the Unsolicited Allowed check box so that it displays a check mark.
This will enable the device to send unsolicited events to the Geo SCADA Expert  server.
  7. Navigate to DNP3 > Events > Advance Configuration > Unsolicited Message Generation (Triggered Events) and set the Event Notification Delay property to 2 seconds.

The default of 10 seconds should be suitable for many system setups, but for the purposes of this tutorial, set this property to 2 seconds.

  8. Navigate to DNP3 > Events > Advance Configuration > Unsolicited Configuration and leave the Default Enabled Event Classes at its default value of No Classes. Geo SCADA Expert will determine the classes of data for which it should transmit unsolicited messages, once it establishes communications with the SCADAPack 575 device.
  9. Select the Apply button.

On the Objects tab in RemoteConnect:

  1. Navigate to Object Configuration > Basic Configuration and double-click on the PIO_SP575_AI1 analog input object.
The Object Editor window is displayed.
  2. On the DNP3 tab > General section, set the Point Number to 1.
  3. On the DNP3 tab > General section, set the Static Group and Variation field to g30v5 32-bit Floating Point Analog Input with Flags.
  4. On the DNP3 tab > Point Data Class section, set the Controlling Station 1 to Class 1.
  5. On the Basic tab > Out of Range Limits, select the Under Range check box and set the value to -1.
  6. On the Basic tab > Out of Range Limits, select the Over Range check box and set the value to 101.
  7. On the Basic tab > Value Deviation, set the Event Deviation Type to Percentage of Span.
  8. On the Basic tab > Value Deviation, set the Event Deviation to 1.
  9. On the Basic tab > Value Deviation, select the Unsolicited Events (DNP3 Only) check box so that it displays a check mark.

Ensure that you select the Unsolicited Events (DNP3 Only) check box that is within the Value Deviation section of the tab, rather than the check box that is within the Out of Range Limits section of the tab. (Selecting the latter check box only triggers the SCADAPack 575 device to report analog point changes as they occur if those changes cause the point's value to go underrange or overrange.)

  10. Select OK.
  11. Double-click on the PIO_SP575_AO1 analog output object.
The Object Editor window is displayed.
  12. On the DNP3 tab > General section, set the Point Number to 1.
  13. On the DNP3 tab > General section, set the Static Group and Variation field to g40v3 32-bit Floating Point Analog Output with Flags.
  14. On the DNP3 tab > Point Data Class section, set the Controlling Station 1 to Class 1.
  15. Select OK.
  16. Select the Apply button.
  17. Select the Save Project button on the toolbar to display the Save As Project window.
  18. Select a folder, enter a file name for the project and then select the Save button.
The project is saved to disk.

This same folder will be used when exporting the configuration to an .RTZ file at a later stage.

Export the Configuration from RemoteConnect

  1. On the Configuration tab in RemoteConnect, navigate to SCADAPack x70 Logic > Basic Configuration > SCADAPack x70 Logic Editor.
  2. Select the Open Editor button to display the SCADAPack x70 Logic Editor.
  3. In the Build Logic section of the Basic Configuration section, select the Update & Build Logic button.
This updates the logic and also exports the configuration to the 'Project.RTZ' file.
  4. Select the Close Editor button in the Basic Configuration settings to close the SCADAPack x70 Logic Editor.

Write the Configuration to the SCADAPack 575 Device

  1. In the Network View pane in RemoteConnect, in My Network tree, select the SCADAPack x70 Controller Settings -DeviceDTM node.
  2. In the Network View pane, select the Online button to connect to the SCADAPack device.
  3. Select the Write button in the Network View pane to write the configuration to the SCADAPack x70 device.
  4. Select the Offline button to close the connection to the SCADAPack device.
  5. Close the RemoteConnect application.

You have now finished the initial configuration of the SCADAPack device.

You can now connect the device to your network using an Ethernet cable. You plug the cable into the Ethernet 1 port (see Set Up the SCADAPack 575 Device and see Create a SCADAPack 575 Device Configuration Item). See the hardware documentation for the SCADAPack 575 for information about the type of cable that you can use.
