Security Guide - System Admin (Allocating Security Permissions)

System Admin

The System Admin permission defines whether the user or User Group can access the archiving feature for the selected item and the shutdown, configure, and manage server features for the root Group. For example, by accessing the security settings for the system (root) and disabling the System Admin permission for a user account, you stop that user from having access to the server configuration tool and server status displays.

You can also use the System Admin permission to restrict access to high-level sensitive data (see Specify Whether Access to Sensitive Data is Restricted by Privilege in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Configuration).

In ViewX, a user account only has access to an item or feature if the user account has the relevant security permissions and the corresponding features enabled in the user account configuration (see Creating a User Account).

Availability: Is available to any User or User Group with Security permission for the selected item. The System Admin permission cannot be restricted (you can only stop Users and User Groups from having access to the system admin settings by denying them the System Admin permission for database items on a per item basis).
