Set the Type of Server
The Server Configuration Tool’s System Configuration>Partners settings include Type, which you can use to define the type of server architecture to which the server you are configuring belongs. For example, if you are configuring a server that is to be a Standby server in a Triple Standby architecture, you should set the Type to Triple Standby.
The Type setting defines the server’s role in the system architecture and can be set to:
- Lone Server—The server is a stand-alone server (see Lone Server Architecture). The server you are configuring does not connect to any other server in the system.
- Hot-Standby Pair—The server is part of a Hot-Standby Pair (either the Main server or the Standby server). For more information, see Hot-Standby Pair Architecture.
- Triple Standby—The server is part of a Triple Standby architecture (either the Main server or one of the two Standby servers). For more information, see Triple Standby Architecture.
- Permanent Standby—The server is a Permanent Standby that is used in conjunction with a Hot-Standby Pair or Triple Standby architecture (see Permanent Standby Servers).
- DMZ Permanent Standby—The server is a Permanent Standby that is used in conjunction with a Hot-Standby Pair or Triple Standby architecture and has the DMZ (De-militarized Zone) setting enabled (see De-Militarized Zone (DMZ) Permanent Standby Servers).
