Memory Usage
You can use the Memory Usage category to view how the server's memory is being used.
Typically, the Memory Usage statistics are useful when there are abnormal conditions on systems that have large databases and are running out of memory. By examining the statistics, you can determine which areas of the system need to be tuned so that they use less memory. A common example of this is when historic data is being logged too frequently and so there is a large amount of historic data using up the server's memory (this may result in high Raw, Modified, and Annotation memory usage).By using the Memory Usage statistics, you can identify that historic data is using too much memory and you can then alter the historic cache settings and other configuration as required.
The memory statistics are categorized under these headings:
- Source—The type of system component that is using the server's memory.
- Usage—The amount of server memory used by each component.
There is also a total memory usage statistic.
