Configuring DNP3 Binary Points

This section provides information about DNP3 ‘Generic’ binary points (see DNP3 Master Configuration). If your system is running a DNP3 Extension Driver, other types of DNP3 binary point might be available. For information about non-generic DNP3 binary points, see the relevant DNP3 extension driver guide.

The ClearSCADA DNP3 driver supports 1-, 2- and 3-bit Binary Input, and Binary Output points. (ClearSCADA combines consecutive Binary points from a DNP3 outstation to form a 2- or 3-bit Binary Input or Output point within the ClearSCADA database.)

Configure the settings for each Binary point using the fields on the DNP3 Binary Input Point Form, or the DNP3 Binary Output Point Form, as applicable.

This section covers configuration of properties on the Binary Point tab of both Forms, and the Output tab of the DNP3 Binary Input Point Form.

For both DNP3 Binary Input Points and DNP3 Binary Output Points, use the Binary Point tab to:

For DNP3 Binary Output Points there are two additional tabs: a Control Tab and a Control Checks tab.

Use the Control tab to:

You can optionally use the Control Checks tab to configure the Control Checks settings (see Configuring Control Checks Settings in the ClearSCADA Guide to Core Point Configuration).

The fields on other tabs are common to points on many advanced drivers—see Tabs on Point Forms in the ClearSCADA Guide to Advanced Drivers.

Binary points are referred to as Digital points on many other drivers. As such, much of the common functionality for these points can be found in the Digital Points section of the ClearSCADA Guide to Core Point Configuration.
