Guest User Account and Everyone Group

The Guest user account is a built-in user account. It is used whenever a user accesses ClearSCADA via ViewX, OPC, ODBC or Automation without logging on. By default, the Guest user has no permissions set and immediately after a new installation you can only log on to the system using the Super User account. You can then change the permissions of the Guest user at a later stage. A typical use is to create a logged-off mimic for ViewX, showing any legal warnings and providing a pick action to initiate login. This feature is not supported on WebX via IIS.

ClearSCADA has a single built-in User Group named Everyone. Every user account that is created is automatically associated with the 'Everyone' User Group.

The Guest user account and Everyone user groups should not be used. Instead, actual users should be added to the system and granted relevant security access and privileges.

Some Third Party applications such as OPC clients that do not support "OPC Private Security" will need to use the Guest user to access ClearSCADA. They require the Guest user account to have at least the Read permission so that they can access system data. This permission can be applied just to the objects which the application needs to read.

The Guest user account is not available with WebX clients.
