Configuring Historic Calculations

You can use Historic Calculations to generate new values for a point or Forecast based on historical data from other sources. The historical data used in the calculation could be obtained from other points, Forecasts or Time Profiles.

You specify an expression for each Historic Calculation. The expression instructs ClearSCADA as to the type of calculation that it is to perform on the historic data from one or more data sources (points, Time Profiles, or Forecasts). The results of the calculation is written to the ‘target’ point or Forecast.

To run a historic calculation you need to schedule its execution.

To assess the flood risk downstream in a river, use the known levels of the river tributaries upstream to calculate what height the river will reach downstream. Use Offsets to allow for the time it will take for the known tributary levels to reach downstream. Configure the Target Forecast so that it raises an alarm if the calculation indicates that the river will reach a critical level.
