Defining Severities

Alarms and events each have a severity level (sometimes called a priority) that indicates the importance of that alarm or event in relation to other alarms and events on the system. You specify the severity for each alarm or event by using the Severity field(s) on the relevant configuration Forms. For instance, to specify the severity of any alarms or events that are raised for a channel, you select the required severity from the Severity combo box on the relevant Channel Form.

A set of default severity levels is provided on each ClearSCADA system, but these can be replaced, adjusted, or further entries added, as appropriate to your system.

In some instances, the severity type (alarm or event) is fixed within ClearSCADA, in other cases, you can specify the severity type.
