Determining the Maximum Acceptable Size of a Value Map

Care should be taken when determining the number of entries that can be included in a Value Map. Very large Value Maps can have an adverse effect on system performance.

If large amounts of data need transferring between the Slave and its Master, consider using multiple Slave devices, to logically separate the data into smaller quantities. The Slaves can use the same or different channels, depending on system requirements.

When determining the maximum acceptable size of the Value Maps on your system, take into account the available system resources and the type of communications that are being used. Value Maps with 10,000 or more entries should be used sparingly.
