Connection Problems - System Offline

If you run ViewX and the system is offline, you should:

  1. Right-click on the Server icon in the Windows taskbar. If the Start Database option is available, select it. Your database will start and the system should change status to on-line.
  2. If the Start Database option is not available, proceed to step 2.
  3. Use the ClearSCADAClient application to check that the configuration of your client is correct (see ViewX Client - System Connections). If correcting the client configuration does not resolve the connection issue, proceed to step 3.
  4. Check the network connection by 'pinging' the server from the client. To do this, log on to the client PC, access the Command Prompt and enter:
  5. Ping <IP address of server or name of server>

  6. Do not enter the angle brackets.
  7. If the network connection is working correctly, the server will reply. If there is no reply, there is a fault with your network.
