Remove the Links to Online Internet Sites

The Help menu that is available from the File menu in ViewX provides links to some online sites and resource centers.

If need be, these online options can be removed from the Help menu. This is useful, for example, on ViewX clients that do not provide Internet access and so are unable to connect to the sites to which the options relate.

To remove the online options from a computer:

  1. Log on as a Windows user that has Administrator level permissions.
  2. In Windows®, run RegEdit (for more details, please refer to your Windows documentation). If prompted to allow RegEdit to make changes on your computer, select Yes.
    NOTICE

    PROBLEMS WITH THE OPERATING SYSTEM

Only experienced Windows administrators should use RegEdit to modify the registry keys. Incorrectly adjusting registry settings could cause serious problems to the operating system, which may require the operating system to be reinstalled. In some instances, registry errors cannot be solved.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in equipment damage.
  3. In RegEdit, add the following string value to the registry:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Schneider Electric\ClearSCADA\ViewX\DisplayOnlineHelpMenu

Set the string to True to display the links to the online sites and resource centers, or False to omit those links from the Help menu.

This registry setting is not created by default. If it is not present, or is not set to a valid Boolean string value, it will default to True and the links to the online sites and resource centers will appear in the Help menu.

  4. Close and then restart ViewX in order for the registry value to take effect.
