Enabled Inactive
The alarm feature is enabled for the item, but no alarms currently exist.
This indicates the item’s ‘normal’ operating condition. ClearSCADA has not detected any abnormal conditions for the item.
Enabled Active
The alarm feature is enabled and an alarm currently exists for the item. This indicates that ClearSCADA has detected an abnormal condition, which should be investigated.
The item’s Alarm Status is Unacknowledged Uncleared.
Enabled Cleared
The alarm feature is enabled for the item. An alarm situation did exist, but the abnormal condition that caused the alarm is no longer apparent, therefore ClearSCADA has cleared the alarm.
The alarm message that indicates that the alarm has cleared has not yet been acknowledged—as such, the item’s Alarm Status is Unacknowledged Cleared.
Enabled Acknowledged
The alarm feature is enabled for the item and an alarm currently exists. The alarm message has been acknowledged, but as the abnormal condition that caused the alarm still exists, the alarm entry has not been cleared.
The item’s Alarm Status is Acknowledged Uncleared.
Disabled Inactive
The alarm feature is disabled for the item, so no alarms can be raised. The item is in a state that corresponds to its ‘normal’ operating condition—if the alarm feature was enabled, no alarms would be raised (ClearSCADA has not detected any abnormal conditions for the item).
Disabled Active
The alarm feature is disabled for the item. The item in a state that corresponds to an active alarm—if the alarm feature was enabled, an Unacknowledged Uncleared alarm would exist.
Disabled Cleared
The alarm feature is disabled for the item, so no alarms can be raised. The item is in a state that corresponds to an Unacknowledged Cleared alarm—if the alarm feature was enabled, there would be an unacknowledged but cleared alarm.
Disabled Acknowledged
The alarm feature is disabled for the item. The item is in a state that corresponds to an Acknowledged Uncleared alarm—if the alarm feature was enabled, there would be an acknowledged but uncleared alarm.
With a fleeting alarm, one of these states may be displayed:
Enabled Active Fleeting
The alarm feature is enabled for the item and a fleeting alarm existed at the instant that the Status display was viewed, last refreshed, or at the time that ClearSCADA was last able to retrieve the item’s data.
Disabled Active Fleeting
The alarm feature is disabled for the item, so no alarms can be raised. At the instant that the Status display was viewed or refreshed, the item was in a state that corresponded to an active fleeting alarm.
A state other than Enabled Inactive is appended with the date and time at which the change in alarm status occurred:

If the item is in an Acknowledged Uncleared alarm state, the name of the logged on user at the time the alarm was acknowledged is included. Comment details are included if the alarm was acknowledged using the Acknowledge with Comment pick action.

Other information is displayed if the item is in an alarm state, and the ability to acknowledge the alarm is restricted to another User, User Group, or ViewX workstation (see Set Responsibility Action).

(Indicating that the alarm can only be acknowledged by a user that belongs to the ‘Duty Engineers’ User Group.)
Alarm suppression can be used to avoid a ‘flood’ of alarms (see Alarm Suppression). With any ‘child’ alarms that are suppressed while a ‘parent’ alarm is active, the child item’s alarm status indicates this suppression.
